Global Studies in 9th grade is the content and skills foundation for the Regents exam at the conclusion of 10th grade. Our examination of world history begins with our origins in the continent of Africa to the dawn of modern age.  Your task is to investigate how these human developments were able to take place, how historical and geographic circumstances impact historical developments, to constantly ask why historically significant events are important to the present, and to connect larger themes of human history to our modern lives.  My task is to support you in becoming curious, fascinated, and inquisitive historians.

Beginning in Unit 1, we will start with examining the dawn of human civilization, then examine how and why did civilization evolve? How are past historical events and issues significant to our world today? How have these issues endured over time?  Throughout this year, we will work to establish effective and clear thinking, speaking, writing and listening habits that will serve to deepen our understanding of history. Your task is to visualize the large reoccurring enduring issues and themes of human history to gain a better understanding about the future of human civilization.
