MAKE UP CLASSES

Make-ups

CUTS - Will receive a zero for the day and are not allowed to be made up.

Make -up procedure:

    • Legal absences MUST be made up for credit. 
    • Students are allowed to make up 4 LEGAL ABSENCES PER MARKING PERIOD. (Codes on portal= ABX, FAM) and 1 unprepared per marking period.
    • Absences for school functions (ex - assembly, testing are excused and do not require a make up. Codes on portal = EDU, MUS, GUI, FTP)
    • Online make up assignments (written assignments) will be posted on your teacher’s Schoology Page.
    • Students will NOT be allowed to make up classes during other PE classes
    • Students legally absent from more than 4 classes will need to meet with their teacher to determine if any other make-ups will be allowed.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a required course for graduation.  Students will follow the New York State Standards for Physical Education. 

Standard 1- Demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. 

Standard 2- Applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics related to movement and performance. 

Standard 3- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.

Standard 4- Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. 

Standard 5- Recognizes the value of physical activity for overall wellness, enjoyment, challenge, and/or self-expression. 

Standard 6- Recognizes career opportunities and manages personal and community resources related to physical activity and fitness to achieve and maintain overall wellness.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

*Please check your PE class Schoology page often for updated information and remote lessons.

*Arrive on time (in person and remote learning).

*Place your bag in the designated area and report to your assigned spot for attendance. (Locker Rooms will not be used at this time.)

*PLEASE ADHERE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING / MASK USE RULES.

*Please wear clothing that you are comfortable in and that allows you to participate in physical activities.  Footwear should consist of sneakers or appropriate athletic shoes. 

*NO BOOTS, HEALS, SANDALS, CROCS, etc.

*Participate to your fullest abilities each class.

*Complete all assignments on time and submit.

*Remain in class until the bell sounds at the end of the period. (Leaving before the bell will result in a CUT.)

*Store any “valuables” in hall locker prior to class.

DAILY GRADING RUBRIC - STUDENTS CAN EARN UP TO 5 POINTS PER CLASS

5 Points- Meets ALL Secondary Grading Criteria ALL of the Time

4 Points- Meets ALL Secondary Grading Criteria FREQUENTLY, but NOT ALWAYS

2- 3 Points - Meets ALL Secondary Grading Criteria OFTEN, but NOT FREQUENTLY

1 Point- Meets ALL Secondary Grading Criteria RARELY 

0 Points- NEVER Meets ALL Secondary Grading Criteria 

The student eagerly participates and strives to do their personal best in all class activities all of the time, and practices both personal (self-manage behavior; participates safely) and socially responsible behavior (helping students and/or teacher) without prompting from the teacher

The student willingly participates in all class activities, striving to do their personal best most of the time, and practices personal responsibility (self-manage behavior; participates safely) without prompting from the teacher but may need prompting to practice socially responsible behavior (helping students and/or teacher)  

The student willingly participates in most class activities without much regard for doing their personal best, and/or reluctantly practices personal responsibility (self-manage behavior; participates safely) and social responsibility (helping students and/or teacher) with prompting from the teacher
