Music

All students are encouraged to study Music. Completion of any full year credit satisfies the Regents Arts requirement for graduation. This program provides an opportunity for students to develop an understanding of the history and culture of Music, to experience the excitement and satisfaction of creative expression, and to appreciate skill and achievement in traditional, experimental, and technological musical forms. Music courses vary from basic music instruction to the study of the aesthetics of music, from classical to contemporary. Interested students are encouraged to enroll in the music course of their choice.

THE SEAL OF ARTS EXCELLENCE
The Seal of Arts Proficiency honors students who demonstrate dedication, growth, and achievement in the performing arts through creative expression and exploration. It recognizes those who have reached a level of excellence in their artistic discipline by creating, presenting/performing/producing, responding, and connecting through the arts. To earn the Seal, students participate in a variety of music experiences, including coursework, artistic or musical development, personal reflection, and active engagement in the arts.
