English as a New Language

Our program is dedicated to supporting multilingual learners as they develop English language proficiency while achieving academic success across all subject areas.

Through a combination of integrated and stand-alone ENL courses, students strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while building the confidence needed to participate fully in school and community life. Our teachers work closely with students and content-area educators to ensure that language development is connected to meaningful academic learning in English, mathematics, science, social studies, and other disciplines.

The ENL Department values the diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences, and languages that our students bring to the classroom. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where students can grow as communicators, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners.

We invite you to explore the course offerings below to learn more about the supports and opportunities available through the English as a New Language program at Nyack High School.
