Consumer Science

Welcome to the Family and Consumer Sciences

Welcome to the Nyack High School Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Department! Our courses provide students with practical life skills, career exploration opportunities, and hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for success both in and beyond the classroom.

Through engaging coursework in nutrition, food preparation, child development, psychology, independent living, and personal responsibility, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions, build healthy lifestyles, and navigate real-world challenges. Our program emphasizes critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and leadership while helping students explore potential career pathways in education, health sciences, human services, hospitality, and related fields.

Whether students are learning how to prepare nutritious meals, understanding human development and behavior, or gaining the skills needed for independent adulthood, Family and Consumer Sciences provides meaningful experiences that foster confidence, responsibility, and lifelong learning.

We invite you to explore the course offerings below and discover the many opportunities available through our Family and Consumer Sciences program.
